I am a poet, writer, and performer whose work is rooted in healing, truth-telling, and the full complexity of Indigenous identity. I was born of Ihanktonwan and Hunkpati Dakota Oyate. I also come from Irish and Dutch settlers and I write and perform from that specificity of walking in two worlds with precision and care.

Based in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, I work across a range of formats: solo spoken word readings, live performance with composer-musician JG Everest, keynote speaking, and poetry workshops and residencies in schools, community organizations, tribal communities, and correctional facilities. I travel regionally and nationally for engagements.

I am the co-founder of the Arrow Broken Poetry Collective, which hosts a monthly open mic in Marine on St. Croix. My work has been recognized by the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC), and the 2026 MN Arts Experiences pilot program.

My chapbook album The Hummingbird's Dance (2022), recorded at Crazy Beast Studio with engineer Ben Durrant and produced and performed with JG Everest, brings my poetry and Everest's original composition together in a form that sits between record and book.
